Supercar lover and rising YouTube star Alejandro Salomon has put together an impressive test comparing five of the fastest cars on the planet. The list includes the hybrid trio made up of the Ferrari [NYSE:RACE] LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 as well as the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and Pagani Huayra.

Importantly, these are all privately-owned cars, which means no manufacturer was involved. And they're also all riding on "stock" tires. These aspects were key for Salomon in his pursuit of completely fair and untainted results. As for the actual testing, a single professional driver took each of the cars and set lap times and quarter mile ETs for them.

Instead of just telling us the results, Salomon put some of his video producing skills to work and created a three-part series called Hyper 5 that documents the test and provides some darn good entertainment. In this latest video, he gives us the backstory and reveals some of his motivation. It’s a moving piece and well worth the watch in its entirety.

He also explains why we don’t see flagship models from the likes of Lamborghini and Koenigsegg. Something like a Koenigsegg Agera RS or One:1 would have been an excellent entry, for sure. Unfortunately, the cars still aren’t fully federalized in the United States where the test was conducted. And the handful of Koenigseggs that are available are older models and thus not reflective of the Swedish brand’s present performance.

It’s awesome to see the level of thought that has gone into producing this test and video series, and we can’t wait to see the results.
