The first independent test with actual quantifiable results of the current crop of hybrid supercars made up of the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder has finally been done, and it’s all thanks to British entrepreneur Paul Bailey who happens to own all three cars, plus the guys at Supercar Driver who were there to film it.

The test was done at the Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom and right now we only have the first video of what is to be a three-part series. This first clip covers the test determining how fast the cars were around Silverstone, with British touring car driver Mat Jackson behind the wheel for each of the hot laps.

We won’t spoil the results for you, so go ahead and click play if you haven’t watched the clip yet. The next installment will look at acceleration and quarter mile times.

Sadly, shortly after the test, Bailey behind the wheel of his 918 Spyder was involved in an accident at a track meet in Malta. The accident happened last weekend and ended up causing injuries to 28 people, including Bailey. Fortunately, there were no deaths and the handful of people that were initially in critical condition are now reported to be stable.
