Fans of Turn 10 Studios' Forza series should probably plan on taking a sick day in the near future.

Why? Because Forza Motorsport 6 is scheduled to be released in less than two weeks.

Everything we've seen so far indicates this will be a dramatic leap forward for a franchise which has historically produced fantastic, race-themed rabbit-hole video games.

Most exciting is the opportunity for up to 24 players to compete simultaneously, which sets the stage for myriad ferociously complicated battles. And the ability to select rainy conditions should also make for some deliciously tricky on-track action.

Not to mention the opportunity to drive the new Ford GT, McLaren P1, Pagani Zonda, and Audi R18 e-tron quattro Le Mans in anger.

Regardless of car or condition, players should definitely spring for a proper wheel and pedal setup. As we've said before, using something as crude as a standard controller to play a game this devoted to detail with seems criminal.

Forza Motorsport 6 will be released Tuesday, September 15th, exclusively for Xbox.
