British actor Jason Statham has let slip that he will be returning to help film an eighth installment for the Fast and the Furious franchise. In case you haven’t watched the last one, Furious 7, Statham plays the role of Deckard Shaw, the bad guy who conveniently remains alive at the end of the movie.

“We’re already talking about doing another one, part eight,” Statham told Access Hollywood. “I’m a newcomer—I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it’s nice to know I’m going to be doing another.”

Fellow actor Vin Diesel first hinted that an eighth Fast movie was coming almost immediately after the debut of Furious 7 back in April. Some of the information he's dropped so far is that the movie will take place in New York and that it will feature Kurt Russell, who played a secret agent in the last move. Other actors rumored to be appearing in the eighth movie include Dwayne Johnson as well as Eva Mendes and Lucas Black. Diesel has also confirmed a release date: April 14, 2017.

News of an eighth installment of the hugely-successful franchise shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Previously, a senior studio exec said up to three more movies beyond Furious 7 were possible. And it’s not like the franchise is running out of steam: Furious 7 managed to take in more than $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales in less than three weeks.
