Yes, the Tesla Model S P85D is crazy fast off the line. Yes, it’s a really cool car, electric or not. Yes, it’s electric and therefore going to save the world.

But it does have some shortcomings.

As the P85D continues its global trek to race everything (e.g., Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Aventador) on legs, wheels, rails, runners, or tracks, one thing has become clear: it’s darn near unbeatable out of the hole, but it quickly runs out of steam.

This video illustrates both sides of the electric ass-hauling coin. Facing off against a Porsche 911 Turbo, the Model S P85D scampers off at first, but then it is quickly reeled in and passed, before the 60 mph mark. In previous videos, whether from a roll or a dig, the Tesla's "superior" technology is, ultimately, forced to yield to the ancient magic of gear multiplication and liquefied dinosaurs.

Yes, there is a pattern developing here.
