England’s Goodwood Festival of Speed is over for another year, but there’s plenty of photos and video to digest still. One of the stars this year was Aston Martin’s Vulcan track car, which made its dynamic debut at the event and was also shown for the first time in a new livery.

In case you’ve forgotten, the Vulcan is a limited edition, track-only supercar that Aston Martin first showed at March’s Geneva Motor Show. It’s powered by a unique 7.0-liter V-12 and is made almost completely from carbon fiber.

With more than 800 horsepower on tap, and factory racing driver Darren Turner behind the wheel, the Vulcan delivered on its promise of truly extreme performance with a series of spine-tingling sprints up Goodwood’s famous hill climb.

Aston Martin says the Vulcan will sprint from 0-60 mph in less than 3.0 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 200 mph. Its engine is mounted in the front, with drive going to the rear wheels only via an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox and limited-slip differential.

The development drew extensively on Aston Martin’s rich GT motorsport experience, and also helping with the project was Canada’s Multimatic, the same company helping the Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] with its GT supercar’s 2016 Le Mans entry.

The Vulcan is limited to just 24 examples worldwide and has been designed to allow owners the opportunity to precisely tailor their track day experience through a graduating scale of detailed power and dynamic performance adjustments. Turner will be among the team helping owners get accustomed to their cars. The estimated price tag for one of the Vulcans is estimated at $2.3 million before taxes.

Also present at Goodwood was the 2016 Aston Martin DB9 GT, believed to be the final iteration of the DB9 before a successor model debuts early next year. For more Goodwood coverage, head to our dedicated hub.
