It’s been a while since we last heard from Pagani. The company is currently busy filling orders for its stunning Huayra supercar, which earlier this year finally started deliveries to eagerly awaiting customers in the U.S.

Now you can meet the man who is responsible for ensuring each of the cars drives exactly the way company founder Horacio Pagani intended, Davide Testi. Testi—yes, that is his real name—is the official test driver for Pagani and has been working for the company, based in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena, Italy, since he graduated from a mechanical school at rival Ferrari.

This video from YouTube channel /DRIVE features Testi who tells how he first met Mr Pagani and eventually started working for his company. Back then, Pagani was still producing the Zonda and no doubt one of the first cars Testi drove was the ‘Nonno’ Zonda test mule that was the basis for every Zonda variant ever launched.

Some of the more interesting tidbits revealed by Testi include the processes and stages in which a new car is developed. For example, he explains that it took two years of testing the new Huayra just to sort out the power delivery of its twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12.
