This week is barely half over and it’s already chock full of news. Here are some of the highlights so far, for those of you not still drooling over the iPhone 6.

The 2017 Jaguar XE made its debut this week, and while we’ll have to wait until 2016 to get our grubby American hands on it, it’s an exciting new entry into the very competitive luxury sport sedan segment. Stunningly styled and packing a 340-horsepower supercharged V-6 punch in XE S form, the new XE looks like it will put the Cadillac ATS, BMW 3-Series, and even the gorgeous new Mercedes-Benz C-Class on notice when it arrives. Oh, and yes, XE S is a bit of a funny name for the dyslexic.

Cadillac, not to be left behind, is working not on an all-new sport sedan, but on a high-tech set of systems that will enable autonomous driving (dubbed Super Cruise by GM) and connected-car functions by the 2017 model year—that’s the same 2016 calendar year the Jaguar XE will arrive for those keeping track. The first two cars to get the goods? One unnamed all-new model, and the 2017 Cadillac CTS.

Lincoln, meanwhile, continues to focus on glitz and glamor rather than new products or features, but they’ve nailed it with their partnership with Matthew McConaughey. The new spot features McConaughey driving the  2015 Lincoln MKC in a number of situations, including at least one that should be familiar to fans of Crocodile Dundee, though with a different outcome. The spots are rather deep and, in a way, engaging. We blame the MKC’s good looks and McConaughey’s magnetic personality.

And finally, we have found the coolest, most car-friendly dog in the world. Unfortunately, Vaughn Gittin Jr. already owns him. The Ford factory drift driver stars in a Fiesta ST spot with his faithful pal, and receives some sage canine advice along the way.
