We've come a long way when it comes to the acceptance of Ford Mustang variants. For many years, if you opted for anything less than the V8, you were choosing the wrong Mustang. Eventually, the V6 version made serious strides and has proven itself to be a worthy vehicle wearing the galloping horse badging. Now though, there's a new hill to climb and it arrives in the boosted form of a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It might not be that tall of a hill to climb, of course, considering that the engine will produce 310 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque.

The 2.3-liter I4 is an EcoBoost unit, so you know you can expect a few things. One is that the torque curve will be deliciously flat. Another is that it will sound pretty good straight from the factory (and a third is that it will sound even better once the aftermarket companies rip into the exhaust system).

Still, no one really had a chance to hear the EcoBoost Mustang rip down the road just yet. Well, until now that is. At a recent Ride-Along event at Ford's Dearborn proving grounds, the EcoBoost Mustang was being shown off and there's now some aural accompaniment to go with the stats we've all read. The crew at TorqueNews managed to snag the video from the shotgun seat.
