Somewhere in Germany, there lurks a beast that just happens to look like a Mitsubishi Colt.

Most people think of the Colt--and its many permutations--as a cheap econobox, but this one has a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4G63 four-cylinder engine, which chucks out 963 horsepower (978 metric hp). All-wheel drive helps put that power to ground without vaporizing the tires.

The car's creator says it will do 0 to 62 mph in 3.0 seconds, go from 62 mph to 124 mph in 3.7 seconds, and reach a top speed of 196 mph. That puts this little Mitsubishi in supercar territory.

While there are some visual modifications--including a rear spoiler and larger front air intake--the car still looks fairly stock, which could be the best, or the worst, part, depending on your perspective.

On the one hand, this Mitsubishi Colt is the ultimate sleeper. On the other, it's an incredibly fast car that still looks like a Mitsubishi Colt. Either way, it's one of the craziest tuner builds around.

Maybe someone will try something similar with the Colt's successor, the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage.
