Porsche has started work on its next-generation Panamera, which we’re expecting on the market sometime in 2016. The car is still in the test mule stage, with engineers most recently flogging the cars on the Nürburgring.

Land Rover and its performance partner Bowler have started a new one-make rally series for the iconic Defender. The series, which looks like a lot of fun, is billed as a feeder series to train up-and-coming drivers for the Dakar rally and other rally raid-style events.

Video of a 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 lapping the Nürburgring has hit the web. It shows the car needs about 7:40 to complete a lap, which makes it slower than the Camaro Z/28 but faster than the Camaro ZL1.

You'll find all of this and more in today's car news headlines from around the High Gear Media network, right here at Motor Authority.
