Not a week goes by without news emerging of yet another car destined to appear in the upcoming Transformers 4 movie. The latest is a Chevrolet Sonic RS rally car, a photo of which was posted online by the movie’s director Michael Bay and described as the “ultimate Sonic RS" and “just pure fun.”

It’s not clear which robot character this Sonic RS will transform into, though it’s almost certain to be an Autobot, possibly Mudflap or Skidz. Fans will recall that the diminutive duo transformed into GM compacts in the previous movies.

Other vehicles announced for Transformers 4 include a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, a military truck from Oshkosh Defense, a Western Star truck, and a classic 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS. Interestingly, a modern, fifth-generation Camaro SS has also been spotted on one of the movie's sets, suggesting Autobot Bumblebee will transform into both versions during the movie.

The latest instalment of the Transformers franchise is currently in filming and is set to premiere on June 27, 2014. The movie will take place roughly four years after the events of 2011's Transformers 3 - Dark of the Moon, though none of the previous human characters are expected to return.

Mark Wahlberg will play protagonist Flynn Vincent and will be joined by fellow actors Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, T.J. Miller and Bingbing Li. Though it’s yet to be confirmed, Kelsey Grammer of Frasier fame is also believed to be starring in the movie, and while there’s been talk of Megan Fox getting a role, director Bay has denied the claims.
