Mercedes-Benz has announced that its battery-powered SLS AMG Electric Drive has managed to lap the Nürburgring in a time of 7:56.234. That’s a new record for a production EV, and in case you’re doubting the effort the automaker has even provided video proof.

Lamborghini built its 2,000th Aventador yesterday. Amazingly, the total was built in only two years. By comparison, it took the previous Murcielago four and a half years to reach this same milestone.

It’s been confirmed that the rights to TVR assets are back in British hands. But does that mean we’re about to see some of the brand’s insane sports cars brought to life? Only time will tell.
