Land Rover has confirmed its redesigned 2014 Range Rover Sport will debut this month at the 2013 New York Auto Show.

Along with the confirmation, the British automaker also dropped this single teaser image of the vehicle, though it’s difficult to determine any of the details apart from a two-tone paint job.

The roof appears to be painted black while the body gets a contrasting bright orange finish.

Despite being one of the world’s most congested cities, New York is the single biggest market for the Range Rover Sport. More are sold in New York than any other metropolitan area in the world and the model is also North America’s most popular Land Rover.

It’s only fitting then that Land Rover debuts its new Range Rover Sport in the city’s annual auto show, but that’s not the only event planned. The latest SUV will also take part in a drive event through the city that will be broadcast live via the website www.newrangeroversport.com.

As for the vehicle itself, Land Rover says it will be its fastest, most responsive and most agile vehicle to date. It will benefit from the lightweight aluminum chassis that underpins the regular Range Rover but its slightly smaller size and sportier tuning will ensure it is a much more exhilarating drive.

The range-topping model should feature Land Rover’s supercharged 5.0-liter V-8, good for 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet, while other options should include a naturally aspirated version of this engine with 375 horsepower on tap and possibly even the new 340-horsepower supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 that has just been added to the regular Range Rover for the 2014 model year.

Further down the track we could see a new high-performance variant as well.

The 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport will be completely revealed on March 26, the eve of this year’s New York show. In the meantime, you can view more of the vehicle via our previous spy shots and spy video posts.
