This year Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A turns 50, and to celebrate the Italian manufacturer of supercars will be organizing a number of events including the reveal of a one-off celebratory car as well as an epic rally that will take Lamborghini owners from around the world on a 750-mile trek through Italy.

On the eve of the new year, Lamborghini released this video that looks back through time and helps tell its 50-year history.

The video shows just how far the company has come from its humble beginnings, showing the evolution from the original 350 GT to the latest Aventador LP 700-4.

We also get a rare look at the company’s founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, as well as the original design of the factory at Sant'Agata Bolognese in Northern Italy.

Note, 2013 is a bumper year for automotive anniversaries. In addition to Lamborghini’s 50th, Aston Martin will be celebrating its centenary, Ford the 150th birthday of its founder Henry Ford, and Porsche the 50th anniversary of its iconic 911 sports car.
