Looking back over its past year’s results, eBay Motors has generated a handful of useful lists that provide details on car buying trends across the country.

The lists show the top five car brands as well as the top five models traded on the popular auction site in 2012, as well as the ten states where the most cars were bought.

Over the years eBay Motors has grown to become a dominant sales force for both new and used cars, and we’re sure dealers across the country as well as the automakers will be eagerly sifting through these results.

As Autoblog points out, over $3.7 billion traded hands via eBay Motors in the third quarter alone, though a large portion of this was for aftermarket products.

Interestingly, it shows that the Detroit brands were the most popular, with muscle cars and pickups being the most sought after models.

To start off, the first lists looks at the five most popular brands traded on eBay Motors. In order of popularity, there are as follows: Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.

The most popular models, meanwhile, were the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Camaro, Ford F-250 and Ford F-150.

Finally, the top ten states for sales on eBay Motors, in terms of volumes, were as follows: California, Florida, Texas, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Michigan and Georgia.
