We’ve all been there. It starts innocently enough, perhaps with a drop-in, oiled-gauze air filter. The next thing you know, you’re eating ramen to afford an ECU reflash, and from there it’s a very short trip to blowing the mortgage payment on a set of 18-inch alloy wheels mounted with extreme performance tires.

Anyone afflicted with the car or motorcycle gene knows of what we speak, as it’s easy to spend insane amounts of money looking for faster acceleration, higher top speeds or lower lap times. Fiat’s latest video may be tongue-in-cheek, but it hits a nerve for many of us who’ve spent a small fortune in search of added speed or improved handling.

Fiat feels your pain, and it wants to hear your “customizer” tales of woe, too. Details are still pending, but it sounds like Fiat will be offering up a trip to this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association Show for one lucky victim of the car hobby. We’re guessing it will include round trip airfare for two within the continental U.S., lodging in Las Vegas and admission to the SEMA show as part of the package.

Fiat will likely throw in some spending money, too, but probably not enough for that supercharger kit and coilover suspension you’ve had your eye on. Still, SEMA is in Las Vegas, so there’s always a chance to turn a little bit of money into a lot of money, though there’s a better chance of turning a little bit of money into no money at all.

SEMA Look for details of the contest to be announced on the Fiat Backstage blog in the coming days.
