If you're in the market for an SUV that hauls a lot more than just your stuff, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 should be on your shopping list. With 470 horsepower, 0-60 times at 4.8 seconds, and a top speed of 160 mph, it gives the likes of the X5 M and ML63 AMG a run for their money--while putting a much smaller dent in your bank account.
For the 2013 model year, in addition to the two new special-edition appearance packages, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 gets some other upgrades as well. While engine output holds at 470 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque from the 6.4-liter HEMI V-8, the interior is upgraded with standard premium leather on the door trim, instrument panel, and center console, and a power liftgate is also standard.
The Alpine and Vapor packages join the fold to help your Grand Cherokee SRT8 look the part, too. In addition to the standard SRT8-specific exterior look and interior equipment, the Alpine and Vapor packages add a choice of monochrome color schemes that dress each version up in rather understated, but still striking, garb.
The Alpine SRT8 gets an all-white paint job, Black Vapor Chrome, and gloss black exterior trim, including a Jeep hood badge, Grand Cherokee door badge, front grille surround and inserts, and the rear light bar and step pad. The Vapor edition wears brilliant black paint, and the same other upgrades as the Alpine.
Both Alpine and Vapor packages will add $2,495 to the $59,995 (plus $925 in destination fees) base price of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.
