WRC Finland Helmet Cam With Ken Block: Video

Follow Nelson

If you're not already intimately familiar with the wondrously insane human-car activity known as rally, this video should get you hooked. If you are familiar, it's just a great two-minute break in your day.

Having gone through something similar--though much slower--ourselves, we'd gladly repeat the experience, despite it being one of the most frightening, physically and mentally stressful, and utterly bonkers things we've done.

The scenes and (mercifully un-soundtracked) sounds you see here are from helmet-mounted cameras strapped to Ken Block testing the Fiesta RS WRC for Rally Finland.

  1. Wow! Those Go-Pro HD Video camcorders are really something else! They can capture in full detail and high definition every single aspect of motion in as many prospectives as camcorders are used. Ordinary camcorders definitely do not do all the justice needed to describe car racing. Now I can understand better how insane the rally driving is, and even Ken Block can better understand how exciting it is to see his own tires rolling and shock absorbers and suspensions bouncing while the brake rotors turn red hot.

  2. I just really really hope those parties involved in the WRC settle their squabble and difference of opinions over international broadcasts issues real quick. We still haven't got any free-to-air broadcast here in Oz.
