Audi is working on a brand new generation of its Q7 luxury SUV, though the current model still has a least a whole model year to get through.

So, to keep buyers enticed Audi is offering the fuel-efficient TDI model with an uprated engine.

According to Audi, take-rates for the Q7 TDI have exceeded 40 percent since the model’s launch and demand for the vehicle remains high. For the latest 2013 model year, the Q7 TDI adopts a 3.0 liter V-6 TDI engine that delivers 240 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.

This new engine, which also features in the 2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel, not only produces 15 more horsepower than the previous engine fitted to the Q7 TDI, it’s also 12 percent more fuel efficient. Audi claims a mileage of 19/28 mpg city/highway. If that wasn’t enough, the new engine also weighs around 55 pounds less than the previous unit.

Other than the engine, the Q7 TDI and the rest of the 2013 Audi Q7 range carries over with minimal updates. Some changes include an available Bang & Olufson sound system, Audi MMI Navigation plus with Audi connect Internet connectivity, and a new integrated twin-screen rear seat entertainment system also will be available.

Pricing on the 2013 Audi Q7 starts at $47,695, while the 2013 Q7 TDI model will set you back at least $52,895. Note, both prices are inclusive of an $895 destination charge.
