You can’t buy a
2012 Ford Focus ST yet, but Ford is giving auto show attendees the chance to drive one in competition and potentially win a trip to the ESPN summer X Games. Called the “Focus ST Challenge,” the event could be coming to an auto show near you.
You won’t be dicing wheel-to-wheel with other drivers in a
Focus ST, but instead will be driving a simulator loaded with the Focus ST’s vehicle data. In other words, the simulator will accelerate, brake and corner in much the same way as an actual Focus ST, albeit in a much safer environment.
The participant with the fastest lap time will win multiple prizes, including an invite to the ESPN summer X Games to meet
Octane Academy stars Tanner Foust,
Vaughn Gittin, Jr, Brian Deegan and Ken Block (their schedules permitting, of course).
Drivers with competitive times will earn yet-to-be-specified prizes along the way, in regional competition. Fans and participants can track the promotion on Ford’s Focus Facebook page, where a leaderboard will be posted and updated after each auto show.
The competition ends in May, when the fastest drivers from each event will be entered into the grand prize drawing. More details are forthcoming, so be sure to check the
Focus Facebook page for more information on the Focus ST Challenge.
