Well that certainly didn’t take long: Jaguar has sold out its U.S. production of the 2012 XKR-S Convertible, which will be revealed to the general public at tonight’s consumer opening of the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Priced from $138,000, Jaguar opted to build just 25 examples for the U.S. market. The XKR-S has the distinction of being the fastest convertible in the company’s history, with a top speed of 186 miles per hour.

Thanks to a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 producing 550 horsepower and 502 lb.-ft. of torque, this particular cat is quick off the line, too. Expect a zero to sixty mile per hour time in the range of 4.2 seconds, which makes the XKR-S noticeably quicker than both a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet and an Audi R8 4.2 Spyder.

The 2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible maintains a proud family tradition, since its hard-top sibling XKR-S Coupe has also sold out its entire U.S. production run. You can’t have an XKR-S Convertible (unless you can buy one from a new owner), but the video below will give you an idea of what you’re missing.
