The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a safety recall on all 2009 Maserati Quattroporte sedans and GranTurismo coupes due to a potential issue with the vehicles’ suspension systems.

The recall affects the two Maserati models manufactured between July through September 30 of 2008, of which there are some 763 units in the country.

According to the NHTSA, the toe-in tie-rods of the left and right side suspension may fail due to the incorrect machining of the components themselves. Should this occur, drivers could lose control of their vehicles, potentially leading to a serious crash.

Owners of the affected vehicles are recommended to visit their nearest Maserati dealer, which will replace the faulty component and performance a wheel alignment free of charge.
