Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept
Talk, rumors, and reports of a coming Cadillac flagship sedan have made the rounds for years now. But today, the story looks to be firming up a bit, with a report that the larger, more luxurious Caddy has received internal approval.
That means it could be on the road sometime between 2015 and 2017. The long lead time is necessary to develop a new platform built around the idea, which includes rear-wheel drive and lightweight materials.
If you thought the Cadillac XTS (pictured), itself recently approved for production, was the Cadillac flagship sedan, you were only half right, according to GM Inside News. The XTS will be the top Cadillac for the near-term, but it's seen only as a "stop-gap" by GM, whose current brass doesn't much like the car at all. The true flagship will replace the XTS after a brief run. We've heard rumors of a flagship beyond the XTS before.
As for the flagship's new platform, it's tentatively code-named Omega, and will grow out of the Zeta platform, with newer technology and materials.
For now, we're taking the news with a liberal dash of salt.

GMs stubborness and blindness to utilise Holdens expertise in large family and upermarket cars (Commodore, Calais, Caprice) is mind boggling and in a way almost borders on xenophobic in their belife that it can only be an American car they sell. this blindness will be the undoing of the marque yet again as double paying for the same thing will replicate was had gone on before with the badge sharing excercise
