Red Bull Racing at the 2011 Formula 1 European GP

Conditions are looking near on perfect for the 2011 Formula 1 European Grand Prix taking place in Valencia, Spain today. Predicted temperatures are a high of 88 degrees, with the thermometer currently hovering around 75 degrees.

The skies are also expected to remain clear blue, with the current wind speed at zero and expected to remain that way for most of the day.

This should ensure a great day of racing, especially for Championship leader Sebastian Vettel who is set to start from pole yet again thanks to his brilliant performance during yesterday’s qualifying. His Red Bull Racing team mate Mark Webber will also be joining him at the front of the grid having posted the second fastest times yesterday.

Most interest, however, will be on McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and local hero Fernando Alonso who is currently driving for Ferrari. Both will be hungry for a win in Valencia, especially Hamilton who will be keen to get back into the top three positions in the Drivers’ Championship. Hamilton will start from third on the grid, with Alonso on fourth.

Nevertheless, fresh from his second place position in the previous Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel remains in the lead spot in the Drivers’ Championship with 161 points, followed by Jenson Button in second spot with 101 points and Mark Webber in third with 94 points.

Not surprisingly, Red Bull Racing is the clear leader in the Constructors’ Championship, with 255 points, followed by McLaren on 186 points and Ferrari on 101 points.

Stay tuned for our full race results coverage on Monday.

  1. Honestly this race is up there as one of the more boring race this season were previously the Canadian GranPrix as the best or one of the best so far this year. Think the track is too predictable and a bore to watch like Bahrain.
