It’s on display this week at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show but our man Marty Padgett is in the Canary Islands taking part in an exclusive first frive event of the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK. While his report will be live in just a few days, we have this flood of images of the svelte new convertible to keep our interest piqued until then.

As we can clearly see, the new car keeps the same proportions of the previous generation but offers a more chiseled look that should appeal more to men. Thankfully, the sleek roof profile also remains, as does the car’s signature folding hard-top which features the new Magic Sky Control roof option.

Powertrain options will include a 201 horsepower turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine in a new SLK250 model and a 302 horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 in the SLK350. Further down the track, a new SLK55 AMG should be launched, potentially with a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V-8.

I am more interested in fuel Economy & Good Looks, These cars are fast Enough.lol..Especially @ these Fuels prices. I and many others canadians hope U ship some TDI hybrids to Canada.First of we are hoping U will be building one for Canada...People that buy Higher End cars want good fuel economy aswell, That way we can get a lot of use out of these cars without having to sweat the cost of fuel at all times So build Something for Us Fuel Stingy Drivers Who enjoy extensive travelling & forget about all this Speed , For Instance ., My C230K was Great On fuel in 1999 & still has great Exelleration ......But with these Escualating fuel prices?? I truly Believe that small displacement TDI Hybrids would be the answer....For Now.........
