Subaru WRX STI Convertible? The Wrongness Is Incredible

2011 Subaru WRX STI custom convertible

A Subaru owner has seen fit to dispense with the roof of his bewinged 2011 WRX STI sedan and replace it with a custom convertible top. We ask only this: WHY?!

We, along with just about everyone but the owner/creator and Manchester Subaru, the dealership offering the car for sale, just don't get it. The STI is a fantastic performance sedan. Cutting its roof off and weakening the structure so skillfully constructed and stiffened defeats the purpose. Worse, it's priced at $89,999.

That means it's not even the fastest four-seat convertible you could get for the same money (BMW's 335is Convertible is $30,000 cheaper brand new), even before you get to the aesthetics. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

  7. hey Prevent: yes we realize it was a dealership who did this. Still, SOMEBODY had an idea, SOMEBODY built the car, SOMEBODY should be fired (or worse).
Personally, I prefer the 'STI motor in a Forester' for publicity. That one at least IMPROVED the car.
