Mustang FR500S To Be Auctioned At Barrett-Jackson

Ford Mustang FR500S

Ford is already auctioning off a 2012 Boss 302 Mustang at Barrett-Jackson this month, and now there is one more Mustang goody on the line. Aftermarket supplier SPX is selling a Ford Mustang FR500S that is modified to meet World Challenge GTS specifications on January 21.

The auction, which takes place in Scottsdale, Arizona, will include a sponsorship package, racing equipment, and other items. Proceeds go to St. Jude Children;s Research Hospital.

The winner of this turn-key race car gets to sit on the grid when the World Challenge Sports Car Wars begins at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg with the IZOD Indy Car Series. That takes place March 25-27.

The winner also gets training at the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School at Miller Motorsports Park; a cash ($20,000) sponsorship from SPX; a tailor-made driving suit along with custom gloves, helmet, underwear, and shoes; and a ton of safety equipment and tools.

Sounds like a deal to us.

  1. Have you seen the 8 BALL '70 Mustang yet? That's the car I'll be watching for. It goes across the block wed eve on the speed channel coverage. A radical departure from restorations, this custom pro tour car sports a paxton blower, highly modified body, and rolls on 20's. Looks like a modern car, even has a heidts front end. I hear the guys giving away magic 8 balls at the party tonight to help everone make thier bidding decisions easier! Sounds like fun!!!
