If you were thinking this psychedelic paint scheme on this Tesla Roadster looks familiar then you would be thinking straight as the design is very similar to the one on BMW’s own art car revealed back in June. However, the Tesla is the latest creation of artist Laurence Gartel who transformed the all-electric Roadster into a piece of art for the Art Basel festival held in Miami, Florida last week.

Covered from hood to trunk in an all-over vinyl wrap, Gartel’s Tesla features a digital collage of images and creates quite a stir driving through Miami.

Tesla and Gartel are natural partners, both capitalizing on new technologies to break ground in the automotive and art worlds. Just as Tesla was one of the pioneers of electric driving, Gartel introduced the world to new types of digital art in the 1970s. His work has since been featured at the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian, among others.
