2010 Cobra Jet Mustang

2010 Cobra Jet Mustang

Ford has made a lot of incremental upgrades to its Mustang over the past couple of years, some of them quite significant, such as new engines and body work. And with every new iteration of the Mustang since 2008, there has also been a stripped out drag special from the guys at Ford Racing to go along with it.

With the 2012 model year rolling in, there’s set to be a new 2012 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet ready to hit dragstrips and we’ve got the first details. Available directly from the Ford Racing catalog, the Cobra Jet is built specifically to race in the NHRA Stock and Super Stock racing classes and is virtually a turnkey drag car.

For 2010 the Mustang Cobra Jet was upgraded with full race-prepared automatic or manual transmissions, drag race-specific shocks and springs, manual steering and brakes, and a fully certified roll cage. For 2012, the upgrades keep coming.

The car’s 5.4-liter supercharged engine will receive a standard aluminum block with Manley H-beam rods, and will be accompanied by black anodized wheels from Weld Racing, upgraded brakes and a revised rear suspension setup with new spring rates. Customers will even be able to select a new Whipple supercharger that will endow the 2012 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet with an eight second ET.
