Stuck: VW To "Discuss" Formula 1 In November, But NASCAR More Likely

2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup Street Edition

Hans-Joachim Stuck, among other things a former Formula 1 driver and motorsports rep for Volkswagen, has told the Financial Times Deutschland that the carmaking giant will discuss an entry into the FIA's top-tier series in November.

It will be a VW Group discussion, meaning the team could be branded as VW, Audi, or Porsche. The only details released by Stuck are the November date, that the company's "strategy" in regard to Formula 1 would be discussed--and that NASCAR participation may be the more likely outcome of the discussion.

While we'd love to see Porsche or Audi (re)enter into Formula 1, a Jetta-stickered NASCAR team run by Germans could prove even more interesting. What's your vote? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I am not sure about VW and NASCAR, have you seen the latest South Park on NASCAR? LOL. but a F1 venture would be something to keep any eye out for.

  2. I dont want Volkswagen join to NASCAR Sprint Cup. I think VW Jetta is boring model. if Euro-NASCAR will based of DTM racing in North America. I know Euro-NASCAR will strict rules for same DTM policies about real muscle cars and team racing spec will version for Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW since it was development two performance and racing specific were version for stock cars from 1948 to 1980's for steel and frame by body were good design for version. it will more famous Euro-NASCAR than currently regular NASCAR. do you remember high performance AMG is Mercedes Benz, M is BMW and RS or S is Audi Quattro.

  3. I'd like to see Lamborghini rather than Audi and Porsche. Lamborghini vs Ferrari sounds epic.

  5. If the Jetta is added to NASCAR Cup, I will begin petitioning for Ford and GM to bring V8 Supercars to America, because, as it is, the only place you can see a major showdown between two American car companies, on the track, is in the Australian series (remember Dodge is an Italian marque, Fiat: http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/daily-news/090120-Italy-s-Fiat-Takes-Ownership-Stake-in-Chrysler/).
