Most Blue Oval fans in the U.S. wouldn’t recognize the name Mountune but over in the UK the automotive engineering firm has close links with Ford, especially for the company’s racing programs, and is regarded as its official in-house tuner. Not surprisingly, Mountune was one of the first performance workshops called upon by Ford to create a new kit for the stylish Fiesta hatchback.

Working with the sporty 1.6L Zetec-S and special edition Titanium models, Mountune boosts output of the 1.6L Duratec engine to 140hp at 6,750rpm and 170Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. The standard model develops 120hp and 152Nm of torque. The end result is a new 0-60mph time of 7.9 seconds – a full two seconds quicker than the standard model.

The list of upgrades includes a high-flow air induction system, a sports exhaust with a high-flow catalytic converter, and retuning of the car’s ECU. Customers can also select a sporty bodykit with a new front lip spoiler, side skirts, a rear wing, and rear diffuser.

The new kit is available through select Ford dealers in the UK and comes with a full 12 months/12,000-mile warranty, but more importantly the upgrades do not affect the original vehicle warranty.

  1. I want one soooooooo badly! That's as much power as my 1st gen Focus, but lighter and quicker! I can't wait for Ford to bring the Fiesta to the 'States!

  2. Why can't ford sell these cars in the US? I'd rather buy this than a honda fit.

  3. @ Rice1, Ford is planning to sell the Fiesta here (though not 'til about 2012). I doubt the Mountune version will make it, though. If it does, it would surely be badged as an "SVT Fiesta".
