Audi is looking to expand its lineup with the A5, a sporty 2+2 coupe, clearly aimed at the sort of people that think the TT is a tad too small. It’s supposed to be coming out in 2008 and will be positioned between the
BMW 3 and 6 series
coupes.
Audi will offer a range of powerplants beginning from a 2.0 Turbo FSI engine generating 177hp (130KW) to a 3.2 V6 with 265hp (200KW). It’s fairly likely these will be the same engines used across the
Volkswagen group.
A tuned up S5 version is also expected and will come fitted out with a 4.2L V8 developing 353hp (265KW). For the power crazy, there’s even a RS version on the cards, though this will depend on customer demand.
Diesel engines will also be available on the A5, and it’s expected all models will come with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
