One of the most anticipated vehicles in recent times has been caught by spy photographers while testing at the Nürburgring race track. Having dropped the Skyline name, the new car will be the first GTR to be officially sold in the US, and marks a return of the infamous nameplate since the departure of the previous R34 version. The image taken by
KGP photographers depicts a car that looks very close to the GTR-Proto concept displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show. A head designer mentioned previously that the production version would be almost 90 percent the same as the concept, and now it looks as though his statement was accurate.
An upgraded version of the unique ATTESA ET-S torque-sensing 4WD and four wheel steering systems will carry over into the new car, which will be powered by an all new 3.8L twin-turbo V6 based on Nissan’s global VQ series of engines. Power should be at least
450hp with 370 pound-feet of torque. We hope the mega-tuning potential of the previous generations also carries forward - some wacky tuners managed to achieve 1000hp levels from the old 2.6L inline six. Expect a
0-60mph time in less than 4 seconds with top speed around 180mph. Follow the jump to see the full image plus others over at the
road that winds.
