We were looking forward to reporting a new world record for the fastest production car this week, but Bugatti has had to move the event, which was planned for the weekend to early 2007. The reason for the move was poor weather conditions at the Volkswagen-owned Ehra Lessien test track located near Wolfsburg, Germany.

Bugatti claims the Veyron has already hit 401km/h in unofficial testing, so the record should theoretically be feasible, but it looks like Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg will retain the world record for a little longer.
