Any potential customers queuing up to get their hands on the Audi R8, one of the most anticipated cars of the year, may have to wait a little longer because of possible production delays. Germany’s Autobild reports that the problems stem from issues such as overheating and too much tire ware and that the car will be released in much smaller quantities than originally expected when it goes on sale midway through next year.

Audi execs are denying the rumors and instead argue that the R8’s production line is already at full capacity. Many of the problems are shared by some models from sister company Lamborghini, especially the case of the engines overheating. We suspect that these delays may give many unscrupulous dealers the incentive to jack up the prices surrounding the launch.
