Just as Top Gear prepares for its reboot this Sunday, news regarding the demise of another popular British motoring show has emerged.
Famous racing driver and television host Tiff Needell revealed via Twitter that filming had wrapped up on the last episode of Fifth Gear.
So busy enjoying Mille Miglia forgot to point out @FifthGearTV on @ITV4 on Friday was last one ever recorded. And no news of any more ...

Needell has served as a host on both Fifth Gear and Top Gear and mentioned in another Twitter post that for the first time in 29 years he doesn’t have any filming duties coming up.
After an unbroken run of 29 years presenting either Top Gear or Fifth Gear it feels weird not to have any filming dates in my diary!

Though not as widely recognized as Top Gear, Fifth Gear was just as entertaining and even more so for genuine car nuts as its reviews were a bit more serious than what Jeremy Clarkson and co offered up. Above is a comparo from a more recent episode pitting Needel in a Ferrari [NYSE:RACE] 458 Speciale against fellow British journo and new Top Gear host Chris Harris in a Porsche 911 GT3.
Of course, this wouldn't be the first time that the show has been canceled. Fifth Gear was put on pause back in 2009 only to return within a year. Here’s hoping the same happens this time around.
