Dr. Martin Winterkorn and his team of
Audi execs moved in to take the helm of
Volkswagen only this month but they’re already announcing ambitious plans to revitalize the company’s core products including major facelifts for the Golf,
Passat and even the all new Scirocco. We hope the latter will stick with the striking look of the Iroc concept pictured above.
VW design boss Walter de Silva will submit concept sketches for the new cars in the following months to be approved, with the facelifted models due within the coming year. The new team will also reverse former head Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard’s decision to drop the V10 TDI engine from the
Touareg range as it’s one of the SUV’s unique strong-points.
The appointment of the new executive team means that the development, production and sales processes for future VWs will be much more closely aligned with Audi. Also, there’ll be no separation of VW Group’s other brands as earlier reported.
