Ford will unveil three new show cars at next week’s New York Auto Show that it developed with the aid of several car customizers. The Blue Oval is using these vehicles as part of its attempt to capture some of the lucrative aftermarket segment, a marketing practice it calls “microsegmentation.”
The first of these vehicles will be the Shelby prepped Mustang GT-500KR. The hotted up Stang gets more power than the 500hp GT-500 and will be in store before the end of the year. The vehicle was developed in conjunction with Ford's Special Vehicle Team and racing legend Carroll Shelby and follows in a long line of high-performance Mustangs.
Following the Mustang will be the 2008 Ford F-150 Foose Edition pickup truck, the most powerful F-150 ever. Designed by hotrod expert Chip Foose, the special edition F-150 picks up a 450hp 5.8L V8.
Finally, Ford will also display another vehicle that was modified by hip-hop legend Funkmaster Flex. It also plans to introduce other limited edition versions of the Mustang and F-series within the next 12 months.

Ford bowed out like the pacifist that they are and never wants any trouble with anybody. Ford should instead be competing with Honda and Toyota and Hyundai to try and start getting somewhere. I understand that they are trying to do that by down sizing but they should have never lost focus.
These American companies make me so angry because they tend to be so arrogant that they end up getting themselves in trouble. Why are we americans viewed as arrogant? Everything that is American that the rest of the world sees tends to have that persona.
I also think that they should stop trying to make different cars in the UK and different cars in the US. I want a Ford Mondeo. I want an RS Focus. I want something that is designed well enough that they do not have to change it every few years.
Ford needs to carry everything that they can over into every new vehicle that they make...and when they do not they should use extensive testing. They should use programs that test the structural integrity of the engine and the drive terrian. They need to stop fooling around and get to business because most Americans want to buy what will last and what is a good investment and to be honest American built is not a good investment because they eat dirt before you even hit 150k. Chevy and Dodge do not get out of this either all Americans are being arrogant about their product.
Toyota or Hyundai are the best investments.
American built has to learn a lesson someday might as well make it sooner than later.
