With the Tuning World Bodensee auto show in full swing over in Germany, all the big name tuners are releasing their latest models with German marques such as Hamann out in full force. Hamann’s latest performance packs have been designed for the
Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and BMW’s second-generation X5 SUV.
Most designers would find it tough trying to beautify the awkward styling of the 612, but Hamann has managed to give the car some aggression with its lower lip and side skirts.
When it comes to modifying a performance SUV, the BMW X5 is a logical choice. It’s already one of the sportiest
SUVs and most successful cars of its class and now Hamann has improved on the already impressive design. Developers have created performance upgrades for both 3.0L gasoline and
diesel versions as well as the 4.8i V8, including suspension, wheels, power, interior and aerodynamics enhancements.
For the power upgrades, Hamann added a reprogrammed Motronic ECU, which lifts output for the 3.0si by 14hp (10kW) and 25 Nm more torque. The 3.0d’s output is raised by the tuners to 265hp (195 kW) and 600 Nm and the numbers for the V8 4.8i jumps by 18hp (13 kW). To match the performance under the hood, Hamann installed new front and rear spoilers complemented with huge racing wheels ranging from 20 to a massive 23in.
