As much as we like to read and talk about V12-powered exotics and twin-turbo track stars, for a large majority these cars will forever remain the stuff of dreams. The more realistic option for a significant number of performance enthusiasts is tiny economical runabouts with equally tiny four-cylinder engines, and in this segment nothing is more sacred than the legendary ‘GTI’ badge. A group of enthusiasts have now organized a ‘GTI Challenge,’ a road trip from Calais to Monaco with a stopover at the Nürburgring.

The inaugural GTI road trip is open to cars from all manufacturers, from VWs to Peugeots, Fords to Fiats, Renaults to Vauxhalls, and will travel through five countries over four days and includes the aforementioned track day at the ‘Ring as well as an alpine pass and plenty of other driving challenges. The trip will take place on the 4th of May and only costs about £100 to enter, so if you're interested head over to the organizer's site by clicking here.
