Volvo has revealed the latest addition to its sporty R-Design line-up with the introduction of the all-new V70 R-Design wagon. Set to go on sale in Europe in August, the regular V70 estate has been spruced up with a specially tuned lowered sports chassis and a distinctive bodykit.

The sports chassis has been optimized with the help of features such as stiffer anti-roll bars and bushings, and a lower ground clearance (20mm at the front, 15mm at the rear) for more direct road contact to deliver more responsive steering.

Visual changes to the car include new R-Design badging, a silver matt-finish front grille and matching door mirrors, custom chrome exhaust pipes and a color coordinated rear spoiler. Unique 18in ‘Cratus’ alloy wheels complete the V70 R-DESIGN exterior.

Inside, leather-faced sports upholstery in off-black and cream is embossed with the R-Design logo. The package also adds a new sports leather steering wheel and unique aluminum interior trim, including sports pedals and centre stack.

Volvo has announced the introduction of a special one-off V70 2.5L flex-fuel turbo (FT) police car. Designed to run on E85 ethanol blended fuel, the V70 2.5FT develops a peak output of 200hp and 300Nm of torque and goes on sale in June. The output is enough to accelerate the car from 0-60mph in 7.6 seconds and send it to a top speed of 130mph.

  1. I have always loved these cars. This is a very nice, simple but desirable wagon. Maybe that's the dad in me talking but I don't have kids so...
