Joss supercar teaser

Joss supercar teaser

Australia is an unlikely place for the birth of a mid-engined supercar but considering the place is home to some of that fastest four-doors in the world (thank you Holden and Ford), not to mention the Mad Max series of movies, it’s easy to picture a bubbling car culture down there. But yes, a company by the name of Joss is working on a new supercar that’s nearing the production stage of its development and in the lead up to its final unveiling this new teaser shot has been released.

On initial inspection, the teaser shows us a car with very generic styling for a supercar. This is a view that’s confirmed with a quick look at previous shots of a prototype but there is a very good reason for this. The final shape of the car will be dictated by physics rather than purely aesthetics, which means aerodynamics and heat dissipation should be optimal on the new Joss Supercar.

The project has been alive and kicking for several years now but only recently has Joss released the final specs for its new supercar. We know that it will feature an all-aluminum V-8, sourced from an European automaker and pumping out more than 500 horsepower.

Thanks to its extensive carbon-fiber construction, the Joss supercar will weigh less than 2,200 pounds and should be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 3 seconds. Expect the quarter mile to pass in less than 11 seconds.

Stopping power will come from six piston brake calipers up front and four piston units in the rear, with ventilated discs all ‘round. These will reside within 18 inch forged alloys wrapped in Toyo tires.

No final release date has been confirmed but expect an announcement within the remainder of the year. Pricing will be steep--don’t expect much change from $500,000.
