Nissan’s stunning Concept 2020 Vision was originally designed for the virtual world of Gran Turismo, where it sits among a handful of equally-wild concepts designed in celebration of the popular video game’s 15th anniversary last year. However, Nissan was so pleased with the initial sketch work for the Concept 2020 Vision that it asked its advanced engineering team to help mold the final shape as well as create a life-sized model.

The model of the Concept 2020 Vision will now be presented at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which kicks off tomorrow. The model is the only physical representation of the car in existence and it was created from scratch using the latest digital design tools.

The concept is described as an all-wheel-drive,  2+2 sports car equipped with race track technology but built for the road. The main area of focus in developing the concept was air flow management, with designers working closely with aerodynamic specialists to ensure the virtual car performs as realistically as possible. It will be available for download in Gran Turismo 6 from next month and offers 10 different shades to choose from.

Nissan's official line is that the concept hints at what a performance car of the future might look like. Considering all the familiar GT-R design cues, it’s safe to assume that the future performance car Nissan is referring to is a new version of the GT-R. Expect the next-generation R36 GT-R, tipped to be introduced for the 2016 model year, to feature elements borrowed from the Concept 2020 Vision.
