The nitty gritty: the 650S rockets off the line to 62 mph in just 3.0 seconds, meaning it should hit 60 mph for us Yanks in about 2.9; 0-124 mph comes in just 8.4 seconds; and it rattles off the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds at 139 mph. Top speed? 207 mph. Braking? 62 mph-zero in 100 feet, 124 mph-zero in 404 feet, and 186 mph-zero in 889 feet.
McLaren's newest supercar owes its brisk performance to its potent 641-horsepower twin-turbo V-8 engine and sophisticated power delivery system. The 650S's relatively light weight of 2,932 pounds dry, which yields a power-to-weight factor of 437 horsepower per ton (or 4.57 pounds per horsepower) also helps.

Despite its exceedingly fleet-footed nature, on the EU combined cycle, the McLaren 650S scores 24.2 mpg--a figure that will likely translate into the low-20-mpg range for EPA use.
