There's basically never a good time to lose steering in a race car when you're blasting at 10/10ths around a track. There's also basically no place worse to lose steering than in the high-speed Eau Rouge corner at Spa Francorchamps.

Eau Rouge has claimed more than a few drivers' lives in the past, so we can only imagine the instant, if momentary, terror in the mind of Chris van der Drift (is there a better racing name possible?) as he hits the high-compression bottom of the famed bend in his MP4-12C GT3 race car and finds he's no longer in control of the car. The steering simply broke.

Luckily for van der Drift, his trajectory off the track wasn't so terrible, and though the car was heavily damaged upon impact with the wall, he came out without serious injury.
