Acura’s redesigned MDX SUV (be sure to read our first drive) goes on sale this summer with a starting price of $43,185, including an $895 destination fee.

The new price just slips in under the starting price of the outgoing 2013 MDX, though the 2014 MDX’s base trim features front-wheel drive instead of all-wheel drive.

The cheapest 2014 MDX with all-wheel drive (SH-AWD) starts at $45,185, reflecting a $1,010 price increase over the cheapest 2013 MDX, which featured all-wheel drive across the lineup.

Four trims are available starting with the base MDX, which is followed by the MDX with Technology package, the MDX with Technology and Entertainment packages, and finally the top-of-the-line MDX with Advance and Entertainment packages.

The MDX with Advance & Entertainment Packages comes with SH-AWD and is priced from $57,400, including the $895 destination fee.

All 2014 MDX models feature the same engine, a 3.5-liter V-6 with direct fuel injection and cylinder deactivation. Peak output comes in at 290 horsepower, which is channeled to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

EPA-rated gas mileage will be announced closer to the retail launch but Acura estimates a rating of 20/28 mpg city/highway and 23 mpg combined for the front-wheel-drive models and 18/27 mpg city/highway and 21 combined for those equipped with SH-AWD.

The interior of the 2014 Acura MDX boasts ample space for seven, split over three rows. A new “One-Touch Walk-In” feature has been added, which at the touch of a button automatically folds and slides the second-row seats to allow easy access to the third row.

Other standard goodies include a 10-way power adjustable and heated driver’s seat, an 8-way power and heated passenger seat, an eight-speaker stereo and the new AcuraLink interface.
