Since the debut of the F-150 SVT Raptor off-roading pickup back in 2010, Ford has continuously updated the vehicle, either adding a SuperCrew option, improving the safety or adding more power with each passing year.

In fact, continuous improvement has been a Raptor development imperative since launch.

For the 2014 model year, Ford is releasing a new edition, the 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition.

The latest addition to the ever-expanding F-150 SVT Raptor family adds unique touches to vehicle’s already available Luxury Package, including a Ruby Red Metallic exterior color or Tuxedo Black Metallic. The vehicle also comes with special box-side graphics.

Inside, buyers will find upgrades including Brick Red seat bolsters with black inserts; more of the Brick Red color on the center console and door panels; and black honeycomb highlights.

No mechanical upgrades are offered this time around, unfortunately. Although we doubt many owners will be complaining considering the stock engine is a 6.2-liter V-8 with 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque available. This engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with tow/haul mode and pseudo manual control.

The all-wheel-drive system features electronic shift-on-the-fly capability for the transfer case, and the front axle features a Torsen differential with 4.10 to 1 gearing while the rear gets the same but with an electronic-locking differential as well.

All-terrain tires and the Raptor’s exclusive internal triple-bypass FOX Racing Shox dampers also remain as standard.

Sales of the 2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition commence this fall.

Note, this is likely to be the last model year for the current style F-150 SVT Raptor as Ford is set to introduce a completely redesigned F-150 for 2015.
