Late last week the 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series made its online the debut. The car is the latest in a lineage that includes some of the most potent vehicles ever to wear the AMG badge, and it may just be the most capable model yet from the Affalterbach tuner.

We won’t get to see it in action until after its 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show debut, but this latest video gives us a taste of what to expect. Sadly, there’s no sound of the actual car just yet, though we’re sure the heads at AMG will be delivering that another day.

Compared to the standard SLS AMG, the Black Series treatment has uprated output from the car’s hand-built 6.2-liter V-8 to 631 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. That’s good for a 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 196 mph.

AMG engineers have also upgraded the car’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which now provides faster shifts and sits some 10 millimeters lower in the chassis to help lower the center of gravity. There’s also a new carbon driveshaft, wider track and electronic locking differential to go along with the upgraded transmission.

Sales of the 2014 SLS AMG Black Series commence next summer. While you wait for its arrival, be sure to check our extensive preview.
