Audi has decided not to sell the latest version of its RS 4 in the U.S., although the brand with the four rings has promised to bring more of its uber-RS models stateside.

After watching this video of Chris Harris testing the latest version back-to-back with two previous generations, as well as a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Wagon, we’re simply left mesmerized by Audi’s decision not to bring it.

This latest RS 4, known internally as the B8, made its debut in March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

It’s one of the few performance cars from Germany still powered by a naturally-aspirated V-8, in this case a 4.2-liter V-8 rated at 450 horsepower and shared with the RS 5, which incidentally is coming to the U.S.

The engine is matched to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission with launch control (no mention of a manual has been made) and drive is sent to all four wheels via the latest quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.

The end result is a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph, though this limit can be raised to 174 mph if 155 is simply not fast enough for you.

So is it a better car than the last RS 4? Or even the one before that? Go ahead and click play to find out.
